Hello y'all.
So I haven't really been doing much worth talking about recently, just alot of working. Although my day was brightened up on Friday thursdsy? when I received my first ever passport! So now the travelling part of 'Hayste's travels' can actually happen!
Up until then however, yesterday we amused ourselves by going on a day trip to the quaint Welsh town of Llandudno. The weather was good, the sun was in the sky and shining brightly. Brightly enough to give Stephen a little red face. So, when we arrived, we immediatly took to the cliffs, scrambling all the way to the top to get some good views. And they were good. I took some pictures but they really don't do it justice, especially since my phone camera is awful (LG viewty, eurgh), but here goes:-
Stephen and his hat |
After wandering around on the cliffs and admiring the views and good Welsh air, we found ourselves a copper mine that was apparently 4,000 years old. After watching and laughing at the people wearing their hard hats, we decided to join in the fun, get ourselves a hard hat (mine was red, Stephens was yellow) and go look in the mines to see what all the fuss was about.
The Mine |
We were able to actually go into the mines which was good, as far as 60 feet down I think. It was pretty good, could see all the tiny tunnels that workers used to go down and the conditions that they worked in. Pretty brave if you ask me, I'd get way too chlaustraphobic. We also treated ourselves to some goodies at the gift shop. I think thats the first time I've been in a mine, and I liked it. It made me think of that horror film 'The Descent', although thats just my overactive imagination for you. No monsters attacked us...this time.
Afterwards came more cliff scrambling and hiking, we went upto the summit and had a sit down and took some panaramic photographs.
And here are pictures of us having a jolly good time:-
So we made our way back into town with a little help from some handy 'to town' signposts and got some well deserved icecreams. Mars icecream = yummmmm. We wandered around the shops for a while, I purchased some books (Dean Koontz - Fear nothing, P.J. Parrish - Dead of winter and Jack Kerley - The death collector) and then we tried to find somewhere to eat.
We struggled trying to find somewhere which is probably just due to us being stupid, but eventually we found a nice little hotel restaurant thingy (can't remember the name) where we had some food. I had a baked potato with tuna and sweetcorn and a Morgans Spiced Rum and lemonade. It was delish. We ate outside and watched the people and motorhomes pass by.
After this we bought some Co-op cider and sat on the pebbly beach, exactly a stones throw away from the sea, drank our cider, ate some sweets and watched a dog surf.
Stephen on the quest to find the perfect pebble |
We got our train just in time, came back to my flat and finished a perfect day off perfectly with pizza and bed. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my first time out of England.
Thats all folks!
